Your teeth are more important than you might realize. If your teeth are causing you pain or discomfort it could become hard to eat or drink. When your not eating properly it’s easy to miss out on nutrition that your body needs. Keep your body healthy is part of what prevents infections and gives you energy. So keeping your teeth healthy does more than make your smile bright. Tooth damage could be a sign of a more serious problem. Gum disease and infections could arise if dental problems aren’t taken care of as soon as possible. Once an infection sets in you could have a serious problem. Infections in your gum’s could lead to an Emergency Dentist visit.

An Emergency Dentist visit is much more expensive than a typical visit, for more than one reason. For an emergency visit you will most likely need a more expensive kind of treatment, possibly even oral surgery. Once the main problem has been taken care of there are also prescriptions to pay for, and some antibiotics can be extremely expensive. The price of the visit is bad enough, but in most cases severe pain is involved, and no one wants to deal with that. By taking the necessary steps you can avoid an emergency visit, but it’s nice to know that those kinds of services are available.

If you want to avoid an Emergency Dentist visit, make sure to brush and floss every day, twice a day is recommended. Also make sure to visit your family dentist at least once every six months for regular check ups and cleaning. There are also a few extra service that might be a good idea. If you have noticed that your teeth aren’t as bright as they could be you can make an appointment for a whitening session. Broken or chipped teeth can be capped, or filled in. For missing or severely broken teeth you can have the tooth replaced with an implant. Most importantly, make sure to follow any advice your dentist gives about taking care of your teeth, and always go to your follow up appointments. Visit us at Joseph A. Schell D.D.S., S.C.
